Diary of competitions, training, etc

Dante was my very first dog (that once in a lifetime "soulmate"), and my introduction to the world of serious dog training. He was a $50 puppy from a BYB (however, one who bred for stability and health, owned multi-generations, tried to line breed on good dogs, etc but only bred for "pets" and didn't know about OFA/CERF/etc, so upper-end BYB??) but he was also the best Dobermann (Stryker being a close second :-) I have owned so far in terms of nerve, stability, drive, intelligence, etc. Unfortunately, I don't know how he would have done in the health department since his life was cut short. With Dante, I got "the bug" for obedience training and we went to classes, rain or shine, walking 5 miles each way when the car broke down. He was trained through his UD and part of the UDX, but never had a chance to compete. He was also a ball, frisbee, and tug-o-war nut, with drives like I see in my Malinois.

Unfortunately, Dante was killed at 1.5 years old in an "accident". I miss you buddy, and I'll see you at "the bridge".
